Desperately looking for emergency landing but killed when plane came to rest

A short action in IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover simulator; I was damaged and wounded and desperately looking for a safe landing zone while still had bandits on my tail. When I finally managed to land, a bandit straffed me and I was fatally wounded and killed when my plane came to a rest.
