Microsoft/Xbox provided a copy of ‘Microsoft Flight Simulator’ to me for review. This is the release version, 1.7.12.0. on launch on August 18th, 2020.

I followed your flight path along with Google Maps to compare. The scaling is correct, and allot of the structures are as well, but they messed up in failing to capture the colonial architecture of the Old City (El Centro) and the look of all of the Caribbean housing in this city. Most of the housing are AI generated and not from Bing Maps, which killed the immersion and authenticity of the city. Also, ALLOT of skyscraper hotels are missing. Its like Cartagena of 40 years ago but not exactly. Allot of two story houses are 5 story houses here and allot of large 16 story buildings are small houses here. Im hoping that allot of it maybe because you dont have it set to full graphics, but graphics can only fix so much. If they got the buildings wrong, they got it wrong. They made some mistakes as well in the AI generating of it like mistaking some tennis courts for buildings. It got all of the shore lines and beaches correct, the elevation as well, like the Popa. I wonder how that looks up close. I also wonder how the Castillo of San Phillipe looks like. I did see a little bit of the wall around the old city.
But overall, I would say Microsoft failed to capture the beauty of Cartagena, even from far above. Thank you for sharing this. This was really important for me to see if I should get MSFS2020. Maybe during the holidays. Hopefully they made more improvements by then.
FYI, if you wan to experience more immersion, download Radio Garden on your mobile device or use the website. Its a globe that you can spin around and zoom into to listen to local radio stations. So while youre flying around Cartagena, you might as well as listen to some local music from Cartagena or Baranquilla.
Acuatizó en le Caño Juan Angola, entre Marbella y las estribaciones del cerro de La Popa. Estoy de acuerdo con José Gómez sobre la altura de los edificios. Los barrios de Castillogrande, Laguito y Bocagrande, por ejemplo, se caracterizan por tener edificaciones altas una tras otra en toda su extensión. De resto, me pareció muy fiel a la realidad.
